“Patria y Vida,” the rap song that has become the anthem for disaffected Cubans, won two Latin Grammy awards for song of the year and best urban song, shining a spotlight on the struggle for freedom of expression in the Communist island and the harsh imprisonment of one of its authors.

“Viva Cuba Libre!” shouted rap superstar Yotuel Romero, the lead composer of the confrontational hit, shortly after receiving the song of the year award on Thursday night at a ceremony in Las Vegas hosted by Hispanic celebrities and pop stars.
